Proposal to Improve Karate Combat Announcer

Abstract:
This proposal invites $Karate token holders to vote on whether Karate Combat should replace its current announcer. While the commentary team is excellent, the lead announcer’s delivery has raised concerns about clarity and professionalism. To enhance the viewer experience and support Karate Combat’s growth, this proposal seeks to ensure the announcer is an asset to the league’s broadcasts. Additionally, this vote highlights the governance utility of the $Karate token, showcasing the community’s role in shaping the league’s future within Karate Combat’s unique “up-only gaming” ecosystem.

Background:
Karate Combat’s free-to-watch format, innovative “up-only gaming” aspect, and immersive environment have made it a standout in sports entertainment. However, the lead announcer has been criticized for unclear pronunciation, frequent mispronunciations of athlete names, and a delivery style that detracts from the broadcast quality. These issues risk alienating viewers and limiting the league’s appeal to a broader global audience.

An announcer’s role is to set the tone and energy for the broadcast while maintaining clarity and professionalism. Addressing this specific issue will ensure Karate Combat maintains a world-class production standard.

By empowering $Karate token holders to vote on this matter, the league underscores its commitment to decentralized governance and fan involvement, reinforcing the utility and value of the $Karate token.

Proposal Details:

  • Objective:
Conduct a governance vote among $Karate token holders to decide whether Karate Combat should replace its current announcer.
  • Criteria for the Replacement (if approved):
    1. Clear and engaging communication style.
    2. Accurate pronunciation of athlete names and technical terms.
    3. Professionalism and the ability to connect with a global audience.
  • Implementation in Continuous Operations:
As Karate Combat operates continuously, the transition must be seamless:
    1. Governance Vote: Schedule a token holder vote to determine whether the announcer should be replaced.
    2. Search and Onboarding: If the vote passes, begin a search for a new announcer with the necessary skills. The replacement will be integrated into broadcasts with no disruption to the commentary team or production quality.

Benefits:

  1. Improved Viewer Experience: A clear and professional announcer ensures that matches are more enjoyable and accessible to all viewers.
  2. Global Appeal: High-quality announcing is key to engaging international audiences and elevating Karate Combat’s reputation.
  3. Showcasing Governance: This vote demonstrates the $Karate token’s governance utility, allowing token holders to play an active role in shaping the league’s future.
  4. Focus on Growth: Addressing this issue allows Karate Combat to showcase its innovation and commitment to excellence without distracting from the athletes and action.
  5. Enhanced “Up-Only Gaming” Ecosystem: A professional announcer amplifies the excitement and immersive experience of Karate Combat’s one-of-a-kind “up-only gaming” format, making it even more appealing to fans.

Conclusion:
Karate Combat has an outstanding commentary team, but the announcer is a critical part of the broadcast that requires improvement. This proposal empowers $Karate token holders to decide on replacing the announcer, demonstrating the governance utility of the token and ensuring the league’s growth and success. A clear and professional voice will amplify Karate Combat’s appeal, enhance the “up-only gaming” experience, and help it reach new heights.

I think the announcers are great, especially Bas who is a legend. I personally would love the opportunity to announce from the booth.

Thank you for your response, as I hope to get a vote out to hire a real announcer. Again, not the commentators—they are perfect—and Bas is a legend. I’m referring to the person who announces the fighters, the one who says, “In the blue corner…” I’d love to have someone in that role whose announcements are clear and easy to understand. Personally, I’d love for you to be the main announcer. I understood everything you said when you announced for the IFC!

Oh I thought you were referring to the booth. Yes, I would love the be the main ring announcer for all KC events. Unfortunately, I was not asked to attend the event in thailand but hope to announce the next one!

here is me announcing the main event in Nashville - https://www.youtube.com/live/yTlJ2r54FG0?si=eGn41-cGJzP8wqor&t=15347

Yep, your performance is way better than the current ring announcer. Listening to the current announcer, I can’t tell if they are in the red or blue corner, and I can’t understand where they’re from or even how to pronounce their name due to the exaggeration in their voice. I hope everyone understands that I am referring to the ring announcer and not the commentary.

Thank you for the compliment. I still have work to do in the vocal department but I do love announcing. I feel like I bring a lot of passion and energy to the event. Like I said before I would be more than happy to do all the kc events from start to finish. Keep raising awareness about this so that changes can be made!

I agree the announcer could be better. This is one of those “finding your legs” aspects where I see KC falling into a sound rhythm and finding a groove insofar as the team is concerned. Nice proposal mate.

I hope they do something soon. The noises made by the current ring announcer are terrible. LOL

She’s a legend, but every legend should retire on a win. I concur. It’s become a distraction… sad. But def a distraction.

I 100% agree the announcer has to go. Cannot understand anything she/he says. No disrespect. Just truth. If i were a pro fighter Id want everyone to hear my name and where I represent. Announcer makes weird sounds and is not clear at all.
